At what stage of the repair should a hidden installation door be installed?
Concealed installation doors must be installed before final plastering. At the same time, you need to know exactly how much your floor level will rise relative to the draft level. This information is necessary for installers to correctly install the aluminum box at the correct level. Thus, after laying the floor, there will be no gaps between the finished floor covering and the aluminum box.
How to prepare an opening for a hidden installation door?
The advantage of concealed installation doors is that there is no need to prepare the door opening for this type of door at all, because the aluminum box can be placed even on the uneven masonry of the door opening, and then the inner part of the opening can be decorated with plasterboard and plaster. And plaster the front part of the aluminum box for hidden installation doors with the same finishing plaster. Do not forget to lay a painter's net along the perimeter of the aluminum box and the wall to avoid micro-cracks in the plaster. For details on how to install it technically correctly and practically, see the visualizations that are attached to each interior door model on our website.
Concealed installation doors are made of MDF. And the door does not swell from moisture, if you put the door in the bathroom?
This question is often asked by our potential customers, and I understand them because for me it is not just a purchase of simple interior doors, but an investment in the practicality and durability of hidden installation, and the investment must be justified! Everything is very simple, mdf is really not friendly with moisture, or rather direct and constant contact of water with it, but after the door panels are painted at our factory along the entire perimeter with an Italian white primer to create adhesion to the following materials and in order to plug the pores in MDF. After this treatment, mdf already begins to be friends with water and is not afraid of it as before, since the mdf pores are already blocked. All you have to do is apply the same water-based paint that you bought for the walls to the door leaf. It is important that the paint you choose is resistant to washing, and then I can say with confidence that hidden installation doors painted using this technology will be best friends with the bathroom.
I want to put a drop-down threshold in the interior door that will be in the bathroom, is this possible?
Of course, it would be nice to put a drop-down threshold in a hidden door, but this is where physics comes into play. If there is an outflow of air from the room, then there should be an inflow. There will be an influx of air if the interior door is opened and then the hood in the bathroom will work, but as soon as you close the door of the hidden installation and the threshold is lowered - a vacuum will be created due to the tightness of the door leaf against the box and all the steam from the shower, moisture and odors will circulate inside this room, and not go into the exhaust duct. I often give the example of my first order for concealed installation doors. We installed doors in the bathrooms located in the restaurant, and the customer wanted to install a drop-down threshold in this door. Then we had little experience and we set a drop-down threshold :). A few days after the opening of the establishment, the owner of the restaurant called me and asked me to remove the threshold from the door, because due to frequent visits to the bathroom, the door was closed, the hood simply did not work due to the vacuum and all the smells remained, and were not extracted in the process. My recommendation is not to put a drop-down threshold in a concealed installation door, if it is a door to a bathroom or a bathroom.
